You spoke,
we listened!
We are
proud to bring you the latest evolution of our project
management and collaboration tool, Copper 2008. Available
in Corporate and Enterprise editions, and featuring
groundbreaking new
ways to manage your team, we think
you're going to love it. |
|
With such an amazing group of customers, supporters and collaborators,
who wouldn't! We've received thousands of emails,
hundreds of survey responses, and in
response we have used your feedback to inform
the new version. Today we'd like to announce the redefinition
of the online productivity application. Available
as a subscription or as an installable license, with a
flexible range of pricing.
Here are some of the things
you wanted.
|
|
|
You wanted fewer clicks, and to get things done
quickly.
So we sculpted a new interface, chiseled
for weeks, and the result
is a Copper that is more intuitive and faster than
ever. We reworked
the entire navigation system, showing your current
location as well as your available
actions in the one spot. We widened the entire application
and removed the visual clutter so everything is now right
where you expect it to be. Next, we added a raft
of timesaving features like ajax expanders in list
views so that you can quickly drill down to the information
you need, and then merged other views like tasks and projects
to improve the workflow. Finally we added the
amazing new search, allowing you
to instantly find anything in real-time.
We think its the simplest
and most intuitive interface going around, but you'll need
to see it for yourself.

You wanted an improved timeline and sub-tasks
In 2003 we revolutionized online project management software
with a dynamic drag & drop timeline that quickly enabled
you to create and shift tasks. Most of our competitors
still don't offer such a feature, but we thought we'd
take our timeline to a new level anyway. Now you can select multiple
tasks and
drag them, create
sub-task hierarchies, reorder your project and generally manipulate
your timeline just as you would in leading desktop applications.
This new functionality provides an unprecedented
tool that allows you to quickly create new projects, and
rest assured that each finite movement updates your
centralized project data in real time, ready for your crew
to log in and contribute.

|
You wanted a better way to allocate your resources
Previously with Copper (and still in our Standard edition) you
would simply add your resources to a task, and they would
log in and see that task in their springboard and subsequently
conduct the work. However many of you wanted a way firstly
to set the availability of a resource, and secondly allocate
specific hours to a resource to allow you to track
how much work they had on and if the task or project requires
different resourcing. If you don't have the time to allocate
the hours, you can still allocate your resources the old
way, or the option is now available to simply commit
hours to your resources. Now you can review their availability,
committed hours, and the time logged!

|
|
|
..and to see how busy your entire team is (a revolutionary
new feature)
Introducing a world-first, we like to call the Business
Defrag! For those that do commit real hours to their resources,
the reward is that you can review your entire resources
across a single timeline. Now you can see how your team is
loaded, and subsequently click through to trouble areas and
reallocate! There has never been a simpler way to
visually monitor your portfolio resourcing, the new
resource timeline is your organizations heart rate
monitor.

|
|
You also wanted other improvements, so we did
those too.
One of the great things about having an
open dialogue with you is that it means we get to
respond in kind with new features that enhance the concept
of online collaboration (thanks for your continued support
and feedback by the way).
Specifically, we built an entirely new Reports
module that
allows you to create your own bespoke reports, then export
them to csv format, or have them emailed on a regular basis.
We
overhauled the Files module, allowing
you to create and manage file folders using AJAX expanders,
and added the ability to retain all file versions.
We overhauled
the Springboard so
that administrators can now post comments on behalf of other
users. The users themselves can now quickly expand a task
to see the running commentary, and can now post updates
without comments (a small but popular request!).
We overhauled the
Admin and Permissions system so that its much quicker and simpler
to manage your users access.
We even conducted performance testing
and improved page loading speeds by approximately 80%,
now they snap-load.
Aside from these areas there are literally
hundreds of changes across the entire application, with virtually
every screen reviewed and refined where we thought
it would make your life easier. We couldn't be happier
with the result!
