We have an important project and we want to share the files on the project with the client.

We create a new user and setup the permissions, but we want that the client only see the files of the project. It’s important that they can’t see the project details (the hours logged).

It's possible to setup the permissions in a way that they can only see the files? or the files and the project but without details?

Thanks,

Ben

Attach the files to a specific task, and allocate the client to that task. That way they only see the task details in Springboard and can click through to get the files.

Some customers find it useful to have a 'Sign-off' task and upload concept/artwork/documentation there.

Can you be more specific, how do you allocate a cliente to a task? do you mean a new user you create? what permission should you give him to only get to the files ... Remember there is no user manual and we are testing it.

There is a user manual: http://www.copperproject.com/guide.php

You need to create a user for the client, then allocate that user to the task.

Hi - with the Files, If I want to allow a client access to files only for their projects, but not to our General files, is this possible . We'd like to share our pricing docs for projects between ourselves in the studio, but not with clients.

Yes you'd just Deny the client user access to the Files module.

So in the project files tab they could see the project files, but not be able to click on the File module to see General Files.

Another option:
I always advise setting up a client for yourself (i.e. "mybusiness" so that you can create internal 'Administration' projects so that you don't need to upload General Files.

Thanks Ben. - We did try to deny for File module, however this seems to remove any view they have of files within a project - I do like the 'administration' project though - so simple yet so far from my toughts..ta Very Happy

Actually you might be right, I think if the user has files module denied it respects that within Projects (a request from other customers, an example of the user base being split on requirements).

The General files really is suited for files accessible to ANYONE, so the admin project is probably your best bet.

For us, our clients are really broad initiatives (because our Copper is used for the development of, well, Copper), and projects become marketing, development, administration functions.. Works well, and will work even better over time.

For others using the product as an internal initiative tool, clients become departments. Or for consultancies clients are even used for, clients!

Plenty of ways to skin a cat Smile
