While i can view some filetypes just fine (PDF, PSD, DOC, ZIP download automatically), attempting to view some filetypes fail:
Viewing a posted JPG ends in a blank page that just reports its own URL. However, i noticed that viewing the page source seems to look like the code behind the actual image file- it just doesn't display.
GIF and DOC files end in a blank page.
MOV file shows a faded quicktime icon with a question mark, i think meaning the Quicktime plugin doesn't know what to do with the fle.
WMV opens Windows Media Player which says "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file."
Some of these files were uploaded with Corporate 2006 (3.0) but the issue came up when we tried viewing the JPGs we just posted in the new version of Copper.
Copper Corporate 2008 (3.5 re-release)
Apache version 1.3.37 (Unix)
MySQL version 4.1.22-standard
PHP version 4.4.3 |

| Update: i thought ZIP files worked. Using Firefox on OS X, the downloaded file (while appropriate in filesize) is called index.php and won't open. With Firefox on XP, the file downloads with the right filename but cannot open: "The Compressed "zipped" folder is invalid". On Safari, both the ZIP and JPG are determined corrupt and won't open after downloaded ("corrupt"). These files were uploaded with the new 3.5 re-release. |

Hi Shannon,
What server is this running on?? It seems to test ok on our demo servers, I'm thinking it might be a server Mime setting or something.
Let me know and we'll check it out. |

| We're running a copy on a Unix server (details at the end of the first post). Is that what you mean? |

We don't have any other reports of this issue, it actually looks like it could be a permissions issue. Have you confirmed that the file is actually stored in the file system with data in it (i.e. you won't know the file name as it is hash encoded, but is it over 0kb?)
It might be that the copper_files directory permissions are not set correctly for Copper to access and deliver the file. |

i perused through the file directory (which is chmod 777) and looked at all the files. They all had hex names and a significant filesize. Each file was chmod 644. Each directory within the main file directory is chmod 755.
Can you tell me more about the MIME settings? |

Hmmm, one other issue could be ownership of copperfiles directory. What is the group/individual ownership? Maybe email me through some SSH/FTP details and we can check it out for you.
MIME settings can be googled, but I don't think its that at this point. (They govern how the Server will encode/process certain files.) |

| The owner and group both correspond to the hosting account name. So i suppose the apache user ("nobody") isn't assigned as the owner. But with 777 permissions on the copperfiles directory, would that make a difference? i'm going to email you FTP access so you can take a look. |

Ben,
We are using Copper Project Corporate 3.5 (I don't know if it's re-release or not, how is that determined? 2007-08-22 12:40 index.php) Also, it would be nice if Copper displayed its release version on a page somewhere.. (or everywhere?)
We recently upgraded our Mac workstations to OS 10.5 and now can not view Project Files on those workstations. In our case, they are single page documents saved as PNG files ( less than 20Kb in size ). When asked to investigate, I also found that we could view all documents on our PC workstations using IE 6, but not all documents on the workstations using IE 7.
The documents we CAN view on the new Safari and IE 7 workstations are those that are saved in "folders" created for their projects. Documents that are in the "top level" list in the Project Files tab are not accesible to workstations using either the new Safari or IE 7. (copper user account permissions are not an issue, since we're using the same login to test on the different platforms.) This could somehow be a "MIME" issue as you speculated, but it may be on the client side, rather than on the server.
There also is a bug with this 3.5 version we're using where if you're in the Project Files tab and click the colum heading to sort by "last change", the tab changes to "General Files". Also, it looks like the "last change" and "version number" sorts on the General Files tab are not functional.
How are Copper customers notified of bigfixes and available updates?
Thanks, Dennis Reichel |

Main version number is displayed in the About Copper screen, but the build number is indicated in the zip filename you would have received.
I see you've also emailed us, so we'll resolve via email, looks like you have an old build. Customers who've purchased licenses in the last few months can log into their account screen and download the latest version. |

| If you've purchased in the last couple of months you would have received a login to an accounts page. |

Via email is usually best, we haven't had time to enable manual creation of online accounts for older customers, but we're more than happy to provide the latest versions via email as we've always done.
As at 2nd November 07:
Latest Corporate/Enterprise: 3528
Latest Standard: 3062
Build is shown in the zip file received (e.g. CopperCorporate3528.zip). We don't anticipate any new builds for next few months. |
