The file version feature is not worth much right now imho. What use is it for the user to know that the file they're checking out is version 5.0 if they have no way to access versions 1-4? And suppose they want to revert to previous versions?
Of course, it's probably better to use an actual versioning system like CVS etc. for this, but it would be nice to have a subset of the features of a program like that in Copper since non-technical users have a hard time learning CVS. |

| Yes this is something that a few have requested, however we delivered a basic version of file management that simply allows checkin/check out state. I'd imagine the version after 2.6 will include an option to store multiple versions of the same file. |

If multifile versioning is not currently considered appropriate could I suggest
1) displaying upload date information along with version number and allow sort by that date. This would allow multiple copies of same named file to be uploaded and effectively versioned by date of upload.
2) showing date/version in task view - version only seems to show in more global file tab view.

Thanks Nigel, we've built bespoke file audits previously, and sure enough in our next few updates we'll be looking at improving files further. The implementation in Enterprise is better than Corporate, so I'd expect we'd improve it in Corporate and it will make its way to Corporate at some point.
Of course if you have that little requirement that's just outside of what we offer in the shelf-version, we can modify to suit relatively easily these days. |

I've realised that the versioning info date etc can just be placed in the file upload comment section and it will be visible on mouse-over. I'll use that for version logging.
Do those comments appear on any page in a printable form? I can only find mouse-over viewing.

| Nigel, when you view the File Details page, there is also an audit trail of check outs/ins. |

Ah! that's what I was expecting somewhere but had missed it -thanks
However, nowhere (?) is shown the original upload date and time - which would be nice to show as first line of activity.
