...specifically, I'd like to enumerate both users and contacts in LDAP. I already have a contacts database available. I don't want to have to have a second one in Copper.
ideally Copper would simply reference LDAP users and keep its own data in its own database. This would make integration into Active Directory easier, since schema modifications there are a mess.
Authentication is especially important. And LDAP connections must happen over ssl. |

Add my vote for a simple LDAP integration - just for users though.
Seems to me anyone with an existing contacts system should be able to replace the 'contact' link with a URL to the existing system?

| Yip, using LDAP for users was one of the requirements when I was looking for a product like this. Having LDAP would be a big plus for Copper Project. |

This thread seems to have gone quiet lately, but LDAP would certainly help integration with exisiting authentication systems and Apple's address book app in Tiger supports syncing with LDAP directories.
I would love to have a single contact database. For me, we're looking at LDAP -> Copper & Apple Address book, which then allows me to sync my phone and PDA with not only iCal schedules, but all my contacts at once.
Very very cool. |

Those interested in LDAP integration should know that we have a mod for the 05 Corp version to allow for it.
While its not a supported mod at this stage we'll be including it in the next version and those wishing to play with it should shoot me an email.. |

We're just getting started with Copper Corp version. But I think LDAP support is a must. I have at least 50 users to add right away, who also have access to several other internal systems (all which support LDAP). It is simply too cumbersome to manage larger user bases w/o central authentication.
Ben, I will shoot you an email to see if I can get that mod to support LDAP.
TIA,
-martin. |

Thanks guys, LDAP integration is still very much on the cards.
Contact me if you're interested in this, we might be able to pool resources and get something together. |
