One thing I have found in my first few weeks of Coppering is that Task entry is somewhat tedious because of the way Dependencies are set. The process is:
1. Click "New Task"
2. Type in Task info
3. Click Save
4. Click the newly entered task (in the Task List)
5. Set the Dependencies (repeat as necessary)
6. Click Save
All new Projects have a number of Tasks that need to be entered, and most of those tasks will have Dependencies.
Why can't I enter the Dependencies at the time of task entry?
And - while I am at it - the Save button on the Task Entry screen is off the bottom of my spiffy 17" monitor. So every time I enter a task I need to scroll down to find the Save button. A minor inconvenience once, but a major drag when I am entering 25 or 30 tasks per project, and 20 or 30 projects!
I know new features in Copper are rare (praise Ben), but smoothing the data entry path would be much appreciated.
Thanks for listening,
- CJ

Thanks CJ, new features are added spuriously, but this is an existing feature so we ought to improve it
The dependencies feature is new, and in that regard is itself at v1.0.. In the next release we'll allow you to set dependencies right on the gantt chart.
At the moment, because HTML is 'stateless', you need to save a task before you can create a dependency between it and another task. |

Ah yes... the stateless HTML problem...
Maybe there could be two "Save" options then: a "Save and Continue" and "Save and Stay".
Save and Continue is the way it currently works, whereas "Save and Stay" would enter the task, but go to the "Edit this task" screen, so one could immediately enter dependencies...
Just a thought...
