At the moment you can import a set of vcards, but it won't create a corresponding Copper Client record. We'll look at contact enhancements in the next update, but we'd need to be careful how far we go so as not to complicate things.

For example, what happens if your client name is slightly different? (Acme VS ACME Inc) Do you have Copper come back with an exception report that you have to check through and resubmit? Do you have Copper just create a new client and then have to have some kind of merge function (or just allow the user to then go through and move errant contacts and delete the unwanted client, then if they delete the unwanted client it threatens to delete the associated projects/tasks/user comments).

Thanks for the feedback though, if we had the budget/time/brain capacity we'd cater for every tiny little detail, but for now we add what we can and try and make it cohesive Smile

hi ben,

well my initial idea was to be able to proceed the following case:

1
adding a new client

>this client (lets say an agency) has about 30 people assigned to the project.

2
importing the clients contact data from a set of vcards.
this set may come prepared from the client or made as a group export from my address book etc.

>this could be done under clients / contacts
>command new contact > import vcard(s)

3
its a huge time saver

all contacts would be automatically attached to the client

doing this manually for me seems pretty time consuming.

Sure thing, thats likely how we'd tackle it when the time comes.

So whats in the pipeline regarding this request?
Any news?

Plus how to link a contact to multiple clients?

Thanks for taking care of this issue.
