Purchasing Copper

 

   
Q. How do I purchase Copper?  

A. You can purchase either a software license (you host) or a hosted subscription (we host) via credit card, cheque, wire transfer, cash, or PayPal. Click here to choose and buy.

We do accept purchase orders, however the software is not released until payment has cleared.

 

Q. How is the product delivered?  

A. For licensed customers, on receipt of payment our servers generate the required registry keys, and send you a download link instantly.

For hosted accounts there is usually a 0-8 hour turnaround for setting up your hosted account.

 

Q. How do I cancel my hosted account?  

A. Find the latest Paypal transaction email from us, and click on the link to view the transaction, at the bottom right of screen is a 'cancel subscription' link. Click on this to cancel your subscription. You can cancel at any time, however we do not offer pro-rata refunds.

 

Q. Is there a trial available?  

A. Yes. Visit the demo page to review the two live online demos or sign up for a free two-week trial.

We do not offer a downloadable trial.

 

Q. Can I get my trial or subcription data?  

A. Yes. If you purchase a subscription during or after your trial, we can transfer your trial data to this account. You need to let us know you wish to retain your trial data before it expires or the data is lost.

For existing subscription customers who wish to move to a self-hosted license, upon purchase of your license we can export your data and files and provide them to you.

 

Q. Can you extend my trial?  

A. The free trials are automated, and run for 14 days before expiring. If you purchase a subscription during this period we convert your trial to a subscription. If you purchase a server license we can send you your saved data.

 

Q. Can I review the user guide?  

A. Yes. Visit the user guide page to review the online user guide.

 

Q. What are the system requirements?  

A. Copper Project Management Software is suitable for Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux running the following:

  • Apache or IIS
  • PHP4.0 (Version 5.1.4 recommended)
  • MySQL (3.23.54+, Version 4.1.13 recommended)

Your users just require a standard web browser.

 

Q. How many users will I be licensed for?  

A. The Standard version licenses you for 10 users, the Corporate version licenses you for 50 users, and Enterprise licenses you for 100 users.

Q. Is there a box or hard-copy manual?  

A. No. Aside from the environmental cost, hard copy documentation and packaging also add considerable cost to production and distribution.

Instead, the product is delivered automatically and the user guide is available online. The Copper Project Forum is also in place to provide online help if you get stuck.

 

Q. Can you host the product for us?  

A. Yes, we offer hosting for all of our products. When we host for you all you need is a web-browser, no need to set up or maintain your own server and you can rest assured your Copper is secure. Click here for hosted options


Q. Do you offer educational or not-for-profit discounts?  

A. We offer 20% discounts to educational facilities and ocassionally pro-bono accounts for charitable organizations aligned with causes in which we strongly believe.



Q. Do you offer refunds?  

A. The short answer is unforutnately no. We provide our customers with every opportunity to try the product, including a 14 day free trial. However like most software, after the product has been purchased we can not offer a refund.



     

Using Copper

 

   
Q. How fast/reliable is Copper?  

A. We'll just assume this isn't a rhetorical question!

Either hosted on our server or yours, Copper is based on highly robust internet technologies, and has been designed from the ground-up to work as quickly as you do.

Our online demos and trial versions are indicative of the speed you'll encounter when using Copper in a production environment.

 

Q. Can my clients/subcontractors use it?

 

A. Yes! You set them up just like any other user, and restrict their privileges accordingly. This way they can log in and review progress, view uploaded concepts, and sign-off on work using task comments.

Q.How much space is included on subscription accounts?  

A. 2Gb for Standard, 10Gb for Corporate and 50Gb for Enterprise accounts.

Q. Where can I find product support?  

A. Visit the Copper Project Forum or send an email to support@copperproject.com. Be sure to include your registration details (company name or license details).

 

Q. Will new functions become available?  

A. Copper Project has been designed from the ground up to be completely modular, therefore anyone within the community can develop modules to provide certain functions.

We receive thousands of emails a year regarding new features, and release 2-3 new updates a year based on the most requested features.

 

Q. Do I receive product updates ?  

A. Yes. Copper customers receive 12 months of free updates, but you can use the version you purchase for as long as you wish. Hosted subscriptions are automatically updated with the latest version.

If you have an older version and would like to upgrade, we can offer special pricing.

 

Q. Is Copper available in other languages?  

A. Yes, we can offer in a number of languages. Contact us for pricing and more information.

 

Q. How can I cancel my Copper account?  

A. Each month you'll receive a notification of your payment, which includes cancellation instructions. Subscriptions only require a month-to-month committment, however please note we cannot provide pro-rata refunds.

 

     

Customizing Copper

 

   
Q. Can you install Copper for me?  

A. Yes. Installation is US$50 and we require either SSH access to your server, or a link to your hosting console (ftp/mysql access required).

If you are a subscription customer there is no installation fee, just the monthly subscription fee.

 

Q. Can I modify the software?  

A. Yes. As a Copper licensee, you get access to the source code (not including Flash code), db schema and documentation, and you get access to the Copper development community to request features and share common project management solutions.

The license we provide allows you to modify Copper for any purpose however you must not resell or distribute any part of the code without prior written approval.

If you require customization, we have a modification team available.

 

Q. Is there an API available?  

A. While Copper is itself offered in full-source and can be modified to suit your requirements, we recognise that some organizations require an API into a hosted project management service. We may develop this in future.

A. Yes. We have reseller and referal programs available, with commissions ranging from 10-30% (depending on volumes).
