			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>No words can describe our appreciation for the legacy and lessons you&#8217;ve left us here at Copper Project.</p>
<p>Personally, as someone who was once proudly featured on the Apple website as a supporter of OS X, and as someone who has followed the Apple journey closely for my entire 20 year career in this space, I have always endeavoured to follow the Apple ethos that Steve cultivated. That being to always look at the customer experience first, to look at the HUMAN UTILITY first, to dream about what would make someones day, and then (and only then) see where the technology might create a reality for that desire.</p>
<p>In a way it leaves me mourn for that vision, and hope that what we take from Steve&#8217;s passing is that we can all work harder to think differently, and make technology an enabler of new ideas, thoughts, memes, and actions, for the greater good. In my own small way I hope that over the years I&#8217;ve done what I could to think first about how creatives want to manage their time and projects, and channel Steve&#8217;s &#8220;what would I want to see in my software&#8221; into our humble little product Copper. I know that I&#8217;ll continue this path, in all of my dealings both inside and outside of the Copper universe.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ll leave you with my favourite Steve Jobs Quote, and my favourite 5 videos that show just how amazing his legacy was. I&#8217;m not sure the wider public truly appreciate how much this guy ruled.</p>

<p>In response to more recent requests for bespoke features, integration with other systems, online training and generally those customers looking for the next level above a SAAS offering, we have decided to replace our Enterprise product with something a little more &#8216;old-world&#8217;. This product is known as Copper Premium, and is designed to bridge the gap between the ease of cloud-based SAAS project management software offering, and the requirements that some of our customers have that clearly are over and above a cookie-cutter approach. Given our niche-market offering and responsive attitude to customer service, along with our ten-year track-record for providing great software and customer service, Element Software is well placed to take your business to the next level with this exciting new offering.</p>
<p>Starting at $199/mth or $2999 for a server-installable license, this product offers a series of add-ons depending on your requirements, and comes standard with a 300 user license (up from 200 for the outgoing Enterprise product). 		<description><![CDATA[Element Software releases a Basecamp Import function into its Copper Project Management Software product.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We are delighted to announce that we now have a Basecamp import function, available via the &#8220;Import/Export&#8221; tab in Admin. This function imports an entire Basecamp xml export file, and will APPEND to your existing Copper data, so be mindful that if you perform the import twice you&#8217;ll double your data. This is available now to beta customers and will be rolled out to all customers in the next week.</p>
<p>I know what you&#8217;re thinking: &#8220;How does it work? And will my hair fall out if I try this?&#8221; The short(haired) answer is &#8220;let me explain, and no&#8221;.</p>
<p>Of course, as with all shoe-horning there are some essential differences in the Basecamp and Copper data structures, so here is how the import handles these discrepancies.</p>
<p>1. People: Your organization users are imported as Copper users, all other People are imported as Contacts in Copper. Only users can log into your Copper installation.<br />
2. Projects: Are imported as is with the start/end dates set to Today. In Copper you can use the project timeline to quickly drag real start/finish dates for your projects and Tasks.<br />
3. Tasks: Basecamp has four &#8216;types&#8217; of tasks: To Dos, Posts, Milestones, and Task-Lists. Copper allows a hierarchical set up of tasks so the Import brings these four Basecamp item into each project as tasks and or subtasks which you can then drag into any position you desire.<br />
4. Comments and Messages: These are shown under each task with time/date/user stamp. With one caveat, where a non-user has commented on a Task, this is shown as &#8220;Basecamp User&#8221;. See point 1 above.<br />
5. Just on users, remember we only bring in your organizations users as copper user, the rest are in as contacts. However on that point, in the Basecamp export, 37 Signals have not provided a distinction between deleted and active users, so if you have 5 active users and 5 deleted users they will come in as 10 users. So, if you get an error that you are over your user limit when importing (e.g. Copper Studio is 25 users and you&#8217;ve got more than 25 current/deleted users in your basecamp data) let us know so that we can temporarily upgrade your account for the import.</p>
<p>That just about covers everything! As with any big changes, we suggest taking a backup of your data prior to importing your Basecamp data and also have fun!</p>
